Jewellery brand Little by Little's key sustainable values lie in championing a responsible social and environmental supply chain. Not only does the company want to create beautiful jewellery, they also care about making a positive impact through their production and packaging. The brand has received press attention, such as being featured in the Sunday Times Best Sustainable Christmas Gifts round-up of 2020.

“Little by Little aims to benefit those that create, produce and ultimately purchase the jewellery.”

 Founders

Friends Annabel Cox and Georgina Fuggle – an award-winning ethical jewellery designer and a food stylist/cookery book author, respectively – started ethical jewellery brand Little By Little with the aim to run a business with a difference: to look beyond our own comfortable bubbles and see into the worlds of those around us in need. The idea was born, over coffee, with two friends dreaming of ways to do business generously and raise funds for charity whilst doing so. The product followed, a happy combination of the friends' passions.

Materials

Traceable material sources remain a challenge when making ethical jewellery. By their nature, mined elements are shrouded in secrecy and controversy, which has meant that to date, Little By Little's collections have been limited to silver and gold, as opposed to stones.

People

All Little By Little Jewellery is created by an established jewellery producer in Lima, Peru. The factory has been running for 25 years and employs 350 people. From its inception its aim was always to bring opportunity and employment which it does by giving jobs to people with no prior technical experience, training them in the art of jewellery. The founders frequently visit their production house to ensure that all individuals in their supply chain are treated fairly. They can verify that it is a well-equipped, safe and spacious place to work. The founders also know the team who make their jewellery personally.

Production

Championing transparent, responsible supply chains is important to the brand, and they hope to achieve B Corp certification by the end of 2023. The brand also works with a charitable partner, Luminary Bakery –a London-based charity that provides opportunities for women to build a future for themselves. Encouraging ambition, restoration and second chances, they use baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability and entrepreneurship.

Packaging

All Little By Little packaging is created in a small paper studio in East London.

Animals

As silver and gold are by their nature vegan, all the jewellery created by the brand is vegan-friendly.
